Lesson: Beowulf Newspaper Project

Possible Adaptations:

  •  May be used for any major work
    • Goal of Lesson: To assess student understanding of literary devices and plot elements in a literary work.

    Materials Needed:
        Access to computers, if students do not have them at home
     

    Description of Activity:

    1.  While reading Beowulf, review and teach literary devices and discuss in class.
    2.  Assign the attached newspaper assignment to students.
    3.  Depending on computer availability, allow them to work in class at a computer lab, or assign students to work on the project at home, to be turned in on a specified date.
    4.  Grade newspapers according to the scoring rubric, or develop your own.  Display newspapers in classroom for review.
