Goal of Lesson:
To teach students
quick and easy seacrh tips when using the Internet for research.
Materials Needed:

Computer Lab

Attached Internet Hunt
Description of Activity:
1. Teach Internet
Search Tips, including the following:
-
Use a plus sign (+) before
a word that MUST appear in the search results.

Use quotation marks to
enclose words that should appear together in a phrase.

Use a minus sign (-) to
tell your search to disregard any references to a certain type of wor.d
For example, if you are researching a broad topic, such as Shakespeare's
plays, but you do not want any information from his history plays, you
may want to enter the search as follows to ensure that your search results
will contain ONLY information about the plays OTHER THAN the histories.
+Shakespeare -"history play"
2. Distribute
Internet
Scavenger Hunt Sheet (attached) and let the students compete to see
who can search the "net the fastest!
