Abstract
Today's students live in a fast-paced world that features flashy
technology enhancements for everything from banking to after-school
entertainment to watching the Olympics. Thus, the high school teacher is
constantly challenged to make the classroom interesting, fast-paced, and
compatible with the exciting world of technology. "Teaching with
Technology: Supplementing Classroom Content with the WWW" will show
Eureka! teachers how to supplement existing lesson plans and teaching
materials with technology, specifically with the use of the World Wide
Web. This workshop will address how to use the Web to enhance classroom
teaching as well as how to incorporate the Web for student use. Lessons
and activities will be demonstrated in a hands-on environment so that
teachers will leave the workshop with materials and ideas they can begin
to use immediately. The goal, here, is not to use technology just for
the sake of using it, but to use it as a highly effective way to get
students involved in learning. In addition, educational hot topics such
as differentiation and learning styles may be easily incorporated into
lessons by using the methods presented in this workshop. "Teaching with
Technology" will enable Eureka! teachers to use the Internet to make
British literature come to life for all of their students.
